Poverty: Understanding & Educating

Even if you don't live near poverty, you know it's out there. How do we bridge the gap for those who have and those who don't?

This participatory workshop is designed to bring those challenges out in the open, discuss the challenges and solutions:

• Individuals bring their rules of class they were raised with along 
• Poverty is relative
• Learn to teach that there are two sets of rules
• Poverty occurs in every race
• Schools operate from middle class statistics
• There are cultural differences in poverty
• Generational and situation poverty are different

 Participants will:
• Explain how economic realities affect patterns of living
• Identify discipline interventions that are effective
• Explain language registers, discourse patterns, and story structure.
• Explain mediation and cognitive structures.
• Give examples of hidden rules among classes.
• Analyze the eight resources of students.

Identify the reuses one leave poverty:
• Poverty is too painful
• They develop a vision or a goal
• They develop a special talent or skill
• A key relationship is established

 This workshop is designed to be flexible and used in the workplace to expand the knowledge of co-workers. They will discover the similarities between the economic gaps and minimize the misconceptions.

This is available in a 4-hour or full-day presentation.
